1. Why choose a parquet oil?

When you choose parquet oil, you are choosing a natural protection for your wooden floors. Varnish forms a layer that seals your parquet. Oil penetrates into the wood and guarantees optimal protection for your parquet. The result is that your wooden floor takes on a natural matt appearance that is easy to maintain with our user-friendly systems.

4. Should I sand the floor beforehand?
4. Should I sand the floor beforehand?

We recommend that you sand the floor in order to optimise the penetration of our products. When using parquet oil, we recommend you sand with 100-120 grit sandpaper. When using stains or varnish, sand with 100 –150 grit sandpaper. Never sand new wood while wet. When using Ciranova Aquacolor and Reactive Stain, the wood fibres stand up after applying the first layer and you are advised to remove them with sandpaper. After sanding always remove any dust carefully.

5. Why are oiled floors sometimes tacky?
5. Why are oiled floors sometimes tacky?

Oil needs to penetrate into the floor and not remain on the surface: oil is not a paint. Floors will only be tacky if the oil has not been applied evenly or has not been rubbed in. If a floor has been rubbed thoroughly until dry - according to the CIRANOVA instructions - it will never be tacky!

7. Can used cloths and pads spontaneously combust?
7. Can used cloths and pads spontaneously combust?

Yes. With cloths and pads used for applying the oil, you need to be careful. Oils and waxes dry through oxidation that means they react to the oxygen in the air. This produces heat that needs to be evacuated. If the heat cannot escape, it builds up and there is a danger therefore of self-combustion. The simplest thing to do is to put the used cloths and pads in water or keep them in a closed recipient.
